Those who know me will not be shocked that as a part of my turbo dorkiness I love to fly kites. Stop laughing long enough to hear me out. Kites are simple machines. Wind, string, nylon - no electricity required to have a flying machine. Pressure and tension used correctly lift the kite to heights that make you think, "how high is this thing going to go?" Dorky right? But remember - people, business and dreams are similar. Simple is always best to interact with people, basic is always best for customers, and dreams are achievable without electricity.
Suddenly the kite dives because you loosened the tension and the wind stopped untimely.
You recoil the string and pull back praying for more wind but inevitably the kite dies. Do you need to check the tension on your kites? Are you hoping for wind, or did you install some wind machines just in case?
Take a moment and fly a kite. Simple.
We lawyers have had a long standing healthy debate about which company structure is best for client solutions; a firm or solo practice.
Sure firms are made up of people but that certainly does not mean a team exists. Solo practitioners typically have assistants so the idea of a single person handling all things in the practice is mythical.
I think a more appropriate question is whether the firm or solo practice has a team or individual approach.
